Flapjacked Mighty Muffins – Reviews

Protein Mug Cakes, or how to justify your habit of eating cake at any time of the day! ^^

That said, Flapjacked’s Mighty Muffins are awesome, full of protein and generally pretty tasty, here are my reviews for the flavours I’ve tried so far!

What are Mighty Muffins? They’re these little pot filled with a baking mix: you simply need to add water, blend it into a paste with a fork and then cook it in the microwave for a few seconds (35-45sec). And voilΓ , you get a cake!

Macros are awesome, just like a protein bar: usually between 200-220kcal with 20P 4-8F 19-24C (incl. 6fib) and they also add probiotics in there to “support immune system”! Why not!

Ingredients usually include gluten-free oats, and whey/pea protein and then depending on the flavour you’ll have chocolate chips, nut butter chips, spices, dried fruits, etc.

Texture: The texture is really the one you’d get with a “real” chocolate cake: soft and spongy, with little melted chocolate chips throughout 😍🍫!

Taste: Pretty good too, but to be honest, given the amazing smell, I expected a stronger choc flavour… It’s sweet and satisfying nonetheless and the melted choc chips make for nice little surprises here and there! πŸ˜‹β£οΈ

Texture: It’s again the one you’d get with a “real” cake: soft and spongy, and there are little gooey-crunchy chips throughout: the maple drops?!! Yummy!

Taste: To be honest I don’t really know for sure what “Maple Pumpkin” is supposed to taste like πŸ€”πŸ™„, neither of them are common flavours in France or Spain… at least not for cakes or biscuits… but I can tell you it was both sweet and spicy (I’m getting a lot of Cinnamon), I could definitely feel some pumpkin in there, and the drops added a lot of sweetness and aroma to each forkful! Overall, I enjoyed it a lot!! πŸ˜‹

Ooooh peanut butter!! As soon as I put water in the pot, I got overwhelmed by the strong and appetizing smell of peanut πŸ˜‹ and it only intensified when cooking in the microwave!! 😍

Texture: As usual, the texture is the one of a “real” cake: soft and spongy, and there are so many little gooey Peanut Butter chips in there (you can see them in the pic πŸ‘†πŸΌπŸ‘†πŸΌ)!! 😍

Taste: Oh the chips are amazing, they have that sweet-salty-nutty-buttery quality that makes you crave peanut butter! πŸ˜› They’re so good they make you forget you’re also supposed to enjoy the cake around them though… They simply shine over everything else (> the cake part tastes good but it’s so far in the background that it doesn’t matter much, which is a shame!) Overall, I enjoyed it a lot though!!

S’MORES – 9/10

Texture: A soft and spongy cake that is RIDDLED with semi-gooey/semi-crunchy chips of chocolate and marshmallows!!! 🍫😍😍You can see them in the pic πŸ‘†πŸΌπŸ‘†πŸΌand trust me when I say they are everywhere!! 😍

Taste: the cake itself is sweet and tasty, and the chips are amazing! You have the biscuity taste from the cake, the melted marshmallows and the milky chocolate chips… yes that’s S’mores alright and that’s absolutely delicious!!! πŸ˜› I enjoyed it quite a bit and was really sad when I got to the last bite!! πŸ˜‹β£οΈ

As usual, the mix smells amazing: pure Apple Cinnamon right into my nose! πŸ˜„ So promising!!!
Texture: Cakey, soft and spongey! It is filled with apple bits and gooey cinnamon drops (what they call “cinnamon flakes” in the ingredients)!😍

Taste: The cake itself is sweet and tasty, and the bits and drops add little bursts of flavour here and there. It’s straightforward apple and cinnamon, it’s well-executed and very pleasant!! πŸ˜›πŸ˜Š

I’ll update the list if I try another one! In the meantime, you should follow me on Instagram! ^^
